wedding wednesday: boys allowed on thursday…

I know I promised a scathing expose of my thrift store habit today, but unfortunately I left my camera at work and so I’m unable to document said habit for your enjoyment just yet.

Instead I leave you this feature from Martha Stewart Weddings Winter 2010, pointed out to me by lovely weddingbee reader sweetpeaj (thanks!)  It’s a GAY wedding featured in Martha Stewart.  A GAY wedding people.  That’s effing awesome! So congrats to the happy couple, hooray for the fantastic details, and yo Martha?  Wanna feature our wedding???

Happy Christmas! Jessica & Nik’s Bad-Ass Bowling Bonanza!

Wowzers! I am so sorry that I’ve kept you all waiting on this wedding, because it is truly stunning!  I love the way the color theme is carried out through the entire event (and I especially love that Jessica doesn’t even think there is/was a theme, other than creating a day about them as a couple- see below) I don’t even have the right words, I just love it all so much! The explosive color, the amazing portraits, the fabulous details, and the exuberant joy are totally awesome.  And the fact that there was a CARD MONSTER doesn’t hurt either.

So check out a few words of wedding wisdom from Jessica (in the awesome pink dress) and check out all the gorgeous below.

ADVICE:

When it comes to planning, I think the biggest thing to remember (and as cliche as it sounds) is be true to yourself and your fiance. We turned our wedding into the biggest expression of “us” as a couple in every aspect as was possible! From the get-go, we realized having a queer wedding is pretty untraditional and we embraced that full heartedly. Why not have fun with it?! May as well wear a hot pink dress! May as well hold it at a bowling alley!  There was one point in the planning process where I got all flustered about not having a set “theme” and “idea” for how this whole wedding was going to come together. It was when I realized that really – the theme of the whole event was US – everything just came together naturally. Turned out to be the best day of my life :)

So I added google friend connect but I’m not exactly sure how it works…  Anyway I hope you all become my friend soon b/c I’m feeling like a loser with an empty “awesome friends” box in my sidebar. LOL.

wedding wednesday: now in AMAZING TECHNICOLOR!

Happy wednesday everyone!

I know…I know… I once foolishly ambitiously promised you a GORGEOUS wedding every wednesday (and I promise I’ll deliver eventually) But have I ever told you the story of how my work is bonkers?

Seriously people it’s SO nuts I don’t even have time to tell you!  So instead I’ll leave you with these amazing pics of the bad-ass wedding I plan to feature on my very first day off !

Told you it was crazy- I don’t even know when my day off is!

ENJOY!

wedding wednesday: wedding on wheels edition.

okay okay. So I promised you a bad-ass gay girl wedding every wednesday and today I’m just gonna throw an engagement session at you…

See here’s the thing- I love photo shoots, and I love props at photo shoots,  and I LOVE styling photo shoots.  Don’t get me wrong- I think props add something tangible and give nervous hands something to do.  That being said- your engagement shoot/rehearsal dinner/wedding is NOT a photo shoot! You’re not models. Unless of course you are.  You’re real people with real interests and I think it is important to bring those real interests to the table (or the skate park) in your wedding related photography.  And it doesn’t hurt if you happen to have an amazing photographer like Razvan who can capture you looking model-esque in all your favorite places.  Sigh. Those colors are just SO lush. Serious score in the photography department ladies!  If you’re in Columbus, OH, NYC or anywhere really, I’d check him out!

So back to my whole gay-girl wedding every wednesday goal…

big fail for me?  i think not! Check out how awesome Laura and Casey are in the gorgeous photos- they’re both scientists who skate and play roller derby together so naturally they’ve incorporated those elements into their photos.  I can’t wait to see what they’ll do for their actual wedding!! So awesome!
